Within different projects in the city of Arnhem, research through design is conducted to create better urban climate. PhD researcher Sjoerd Brandsma closely cooperates with the municipality’s design teams to test different approaches of research through design and their effectiveness to bring about better urban climate -responsive designs. The two approaches are co-design on the one hand and technical design on the other hand. Sjoerd has, a.o. other important achievements in the projects, managed to introduce the concept of the ‘climate oasis’ in one of the projects.
