Design and governance in climate adaptation

Design and governance

2019-2020, project leader: Sanda Lenzholzer, team members: Sjoerd Brandsma, Claudia Rot; in cooperation with TU Eindhoven, funded by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure & Environment and Ministry of Education, Culture & Science

Implementing urban climate adaptation differs from implementing water- related adaptation into governance. This project looks into the existing strategies of 'mainstreaming' and 'dedicated approach' and their potential role in urban climate adaptation. We also investigate what the role of Research Through Design (RTD) can entail in such processes. Different procedural components in the RTD process (e.g. analysis, design options, testing) are related to governance processes and their typical stakeholders. We expect to deliver useful guidelines for the governance of urban climate adaptation.
