Urban flooding and urban heat form major future threats for cities and get exacerbated by climate change. Urban heat issues evolve in typical areas with high density and abundance of paved surfaces. Usually, urban flooding also forms a major issue in these environments.  But based on their underlying soil types urban areas display different behaviors in urban flooding and need suitable adaptation measures. The flooding and heat problems were analysed for Rotterdam and Nijmegen in this thesis project in an integrated way and design guidelines for various street typologies on different urban spoil types were developed.
